Since the mid 1970’s, Siksika Employment and Training Services (SETS) has provided Siksika Nation community members with career and employment opportunities. Operating as a division of Siksika Family Services Corporation, SETS is committed to supporting its members by providing career planning, employment and training, and job placement services.
1993 marked a significant period in the history of Siksika Nation with SETS participating in the first ‘Siksika Awareness Week’. That year brought an abundance of growth to SETS with the career library opening and the carpentry program launched. SETS also expanded to include in-house counseling, pre-employment in carpentry and began offering courses in janitorial work and security training.
Operating with only an employment officer and assistant employment officer through 1975 to 1980, SETS has grown to a full team with over a dozen staff members. Today the SETS team includes a manager, business industry liaison, employment training coordinator, career and employment counselors, youth coordinator, an account clerk, administrative assistants and supports, a receptionist and a custodian.
SETS continues to serve Siksika Nation community members in providing career and employment services to create opportunities and foster growth in our community.
